Shims and spacers

In our assortment below, you will find high-quality shims that we sell online. We also manufacture custom shims according to drawings; you can find more information under custom made shims. The shims we sell online are available in single pieces and 10-packs. We also offer a wide selection of shim cases. There are three main categories of shims: laminated shims, solid shims, and shims with welded blades. For more general information about shims, go to shim facts.

Types of shims we sell

Laminated shims for ball-bearings 

Ball-bearing shims are a type of shims that is always a ring in different dimensions. Our laminated brass rings consist of 0.05 mm thin foils. These foils are glued together in such a way that the ring appears as a uniform solid ring. But the foils can be scaled one by one with a sharp knife in order to be able to gradually scale down until the appropriate total thickness is obtained. When peeling foils, the spacer retains its appearance and strength, similar to that of a completely homogeneous sheet. The fitting rings make it easier to install e.g. ball bearings and can increase production efficiency. See more specifications under shims for ball-bearings.

Laminum - Peelable slotted shims

Motor pads or slotted shims are a type of shims specially designed to adjust distances in engines. With laminated slotted shims, every installer can directly adjust the slotted shims to the appropriate thickness. The 0.05 mm thin foils can be scaled one by one with a sharp knife in order to gradually be able to scale down until a suitable total thickness is obtained from the shim. When peeling foils, the spacer retains its appearance and strength, similar to that of a completely homogeneous sheet. Read more about these shims under slotted shims in laminum.

Edge welded shims 

With edge welded shims, the 0.1 mm thin foils can be taken off one by one and each foil can be used as a single shim, but even what remains after removing a number of washers can be used as a shim. The foils are basically 10 individual shims that are joined at one edge with a laser weld that is easily removable. Read more about shims with welded foils.

Solid shims

Shims made of solid material, i.e. not scalable,  are suitable for adjusting coarse tolerances and for installations of a large number of engines. Slotted shims are available in stainless steel or brass in various thicknesses. See more specifications under solid shims.
